The historic building at Wilerstreet is a longtime favorite place to be in Eglisau. In the old days there was a grocery store called “Volg” where everybody came for their daily needs but also for a chat. Margit Bräm was active at Wiler32 for almost two decades and she organized many parties during this time. Her Saturday-Brunches where soon legendary and became unsurpassed tradition. On pictures of that time it was easily recognizable that the grocery “Volg” was already very popular to meet, chat and also to party. For the residents of Eglisau and surroundings the grocery was a real venue of interest. Exclusive and only for the citizens of Eglisau Margit Bräm offered “fridges for rent”. These fridges where located in the basement of the building. In these days to own your own freezy was rare. Local farmers did bring their freshly produced milk.
From seasonal restaurant to Wiler32
April 2008 the grocery “Volg” was closed down and the building was on sale.
Since 2004 Ivo and Su already run a successful seasonal restaurant at the riverbank “Rhine”. This small place is called “Su-Ellen’s Besenbeiz” please check the homepage @ www.su-ellens.com they received more and more inquiries for events. These events could only be carried out with nice weather a “bad” weather alternative was missing. So they made an, clearly irresistible offer and had a great concept, they could buy the building and transformed it to what it is today. They kept the wine storage and decorated the restaurant with elements of the grocery. A second “baby” of Ivo and Su; Wiler32 was born.
